Utilizes three learning styles

eye

Visual Learners learn by seeing. The ProfessorsTutor's organized practice tests and skills exercises promote students' cognitive knowledge base.

ear

Auditory Learners learn by hearing. These students learn best by lectures and discussions. The scripted lesson plans tell the teacher exactly what to say.

hand

Tactile/Kinesthetic learners learn by doing and touching. These students actively explore the physical world around them so the ProfessorsTutor supplies manipulatives that expand students' knowledge through touch.

Reading Tools
The reading products feature practices in word analysis, vocabulary, comprehension, fun long and short stories, abbreviated passages and relevant follow-up questions that target the TAKS objectives and study skills. The ProfessorsTutor focuses on four reading targets: Narrative (fiction), expository (informative), mixed selections of the two, and paired selections.

Writing Tools
The writing series covers sentence structure, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and usage by emphasizing focus, coherence, organization, development of ideas, voice, and conventions.

Math Tools
The math series addresses such topics as number concepts, mathematical relations, functions and other algebraic concepts, geometric properties and relationships, measurement concepts (metric and customary units), as well as probability and statistics. It also covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, estimating solutions for problem situations, determining solution strategies, analyzing or solving problems, using mathematical representation, and evaluating the reasonableness of solutions.

Science Tools
The science series focuses on important concepts including the scientific method, health, safety, and environmental issues that are at the center of everyday life. Students perform the activities of scientists including making observations, collecting data, and drawing conclusions.

Social Studies Tools
Students learn that the role of a citizen is played out in the home, the classroom, and the community. They learn about the rule of law, majority rule, protection of the rights of the minority, legal limits of freedom, limited government, fairness, the common good, and the responsibilities of citizenship.

Spanish Language Tools
The Spanish programs are similar to the English tools and they are customized to help Spanish-speaking students acquire the academic skills needed to be successful and pass mandated tests in Spanish.

Special Education (SDAA II) Tools
The ProfessorsTutor State-Developed Alternative Assessment II (SDAA II) tools include more white space, larger print, simpler sentences, more illustrations, fewer test items, shorter reading passages, and shorter writing assignments. However, these modifications do not affect the level of TEKS curriculum assessed.
